Coaching vs. Counseling and other helping professions
The most important difference between coaching and other helping practitioners is their focus. Counseling, or psychotherapy, focuses on understanding, resolving, and healing emotional trauma and pain carried through from the past. Therapy is about uncovering and recovering, while coaching is about discovering. Clients find therapeutic value in our sessions, but we stay focused on the present and future. Coaching helps identify goals, leverages personal strengths and empowers individuals to take action. I partner with organizations and clients for approximately 3-6 months in a thought-provoking and creative process that enhances their quality of life and/or work. Through coaching, clients can learn how to navigate challenges and thrive after professional coaching ends.
